Routine Maintenance checkup light on my dashboard. I don’t know anything about cars. how can i get a thorough checkup without being scammed?
i’ve seen similar posts about this topic but I don’t have anything obviously wrong with my car. I also don’t know anything about cars tbh. i’ve heard horror stories about people being told they have to replace things that were just replaced or whatever to jack up the price if you’re a scrub like me.
I got a wrench icon on my dashboard and when i looked it up it says it’s time for routine maintenance. I need an oil change and my tires could probably use some air but i have no idea how to know if all my other parts are working correctly.
1.) how can i have someone look at everything in my car and know if they’re pulling my leg for some extra cash?
2.) would a local mechanic or a Team Honda necessarily be better about that?
3.) also is it like a doctors appt where i am paying for them to tell me everything is fine without them actually doing anything to my car?
it’s a 2014 honda accord sport sedan
thank you for reading, idk if this is considered a dumb question or fatherless behavior or something to car people but i appreciate any feedback i can get. let me know if this is better for a different sub too but i saw some similar types of posts here
TL;DR i didn’t have a dad growing up and know nothing about my car. how should i go about getting my car checked out without getting scammed out the ass?
