Not that Ridiculous
I'm in a ridiculous reading slump at the moment. I'll read 50-70% of a book, get annoyed and disinterested and never look at it again. I've finished approximately 1 book per month (preposterous, really) and it has been killing me. Yesterday I woke up and was scrolling goodreads when I saw reviews for {Not that ridiculous by Isabel Murray}. I had read the first book in the series and quite enjoyed it, so I immediately downloaded and spent most of my weekend reading it. It was relationship focused, meaning it is character driven, low stakes/lighthearted fun, and surprisingly poignant one or two times. There was a sort of relatability between the habits and thought patterns of the Mc that I saw in myself as well. My personal opinion is that Murray writes as though she enjoys the act of writing, as opposed to some other authors I've found who writes in order produce multiple books a year that strictly fits into boring and contrived tropes; with characters who are nearly indistinguishable from one another. The book isn't overly saccharine or OTT, and the relationship growth took place at a pace that kept me interested throughout. 4/5 stars. Has anyone else read it? What do you think about the series, the author and the book?
