Introductory to fantasy?

I've always been a straight to the point, real life scenarios, dystpoias, thriller/mystery, storybook fiction reader. Not into romance or sex every chapter.

No particular favorite authors, but I love Larry Brown, James Patterson or JA Jance type books for reference. (I know, very cliché. Which is why I'm here)

I'm looking to merge into some fantasy, or even just scifi, something to expand my literary pallette and help me to imagine things only seen in, well, the imagination. For an unknown reason I've only ever stuck to books that can happen IRL. The most mind bending I've read are a few Stephen Kings books like Insomnia, and Later.

As the title suggest, can anyone point me to something slightly otherwordly.

Not interested in Harry P, LOTR, and romance novels by any means. Thanks!
