Soft Dramatic Journey
Hi everyone, I wanted to share some photos of outfits I’ve worn lately as someone who feels like they’ve FINALLY gotten the hang of dressing for their SD type. Discovering Kibbe and my color season (clear winter) was life changing! I feel like the first pic really captures the diva chic essence 🤩
Here are some general Kibbe tips I’ve collected along the way: - Finding an outfit that meets 100% of your recommendations perfectly can be really hard, so do the best you can and focus on a few key principles. Perfect is the enemy of good! For example, in some of these pics I’m wearing crop tops which are supposedly a no-no for SDs (I look noticeably shorter in them). I paired them with other principles, like a monochromatic look or flared bottoms, to balance the look. - It’s ok to wear things that don’t perfectly fit your type sometimes. Aesthetic and creative expression matters too! My creativity is just as important to me as dressing “flattering”. I think that really comes through in the way you carry yourself. Someone can be dressing to their type, but if it doesn’t speak to your aesthetic/expression, it’s going to look flat. - Some recs for your type might make more sense for you than others. Everyone is unique, even within the types. - Instead of lamenting over the details, consider an overall vibe check. Is the silhouette harmonious with your figure? Does it give the right effect? You’re curating a vibe, not checking off a to-do list. Blur your eyes and look in the mirror lol.
For SDs: - When in doubt, go monochromatic - For miniskirts/dresses, wear tights and shoes the same color to maintain vertical - Throw a long coat/cardigan over a fit to add vertical - Avoid garments that are too stiff or, alternatively, too baggy. An oversized blazer is my nightmare (notice how the sweatshirt swallows me up lol) - Aim to slightly OVER dress. Too casual can look sloppy on our curvy frames. - You can pull off obnoxious details, oversized accessories, bold prints, matching ensembles, etc. Few types can be as unapologetically glamorous. Go for it!
