Update on malfunctioning Hive TRVs
A few weeks ago I posted here about a few Hive TRVs that, after working for a few months, now never fully close after being on, meaning radiators heat up way past their scheduled off point. I think it was 3 out of 8 TRVs were “broken” then.
Since then I’ve had all of the radiators replaced with brand new ones, they were old and I said I’d hold out replacing the hive system until that was done to see what happens.
After replacement, I now have 6 out of 8 TRVs “broken” and not turning off when they should. It’s been 2 weeks, so if automatic calibration was actually a thing that worked then they should have calibrated by now.
All radiators are brand new so the pins are definitely loose enough, they work with manual TRVs, and on the rare occasion that they do fully turn off, they do stop giving out heat, so the hive TRVs CAN close fully, it’s not a wrong adapter/distance issue. This is absolutely a software/hive issue and not setup/user error as a few people suggested in my previous post.
My assumption is they somehow got confused after replacement and without a way to properly calibrate after being disconnected they’re doing their best.
my best approach now before replacing the whole hive system is maybe complete factory reset of all TRVs and remove from the app. Then try setting everything up again from scratch? I can’t of anything else I can try now other than just a complete reset?
