A Traditional Minigun is not Feasible. What about one that shoots LASERS.

Imagine the beauty! Three barrels each firing double as fast as the sickle all firing in harmony and unison, spinning in a whirlwind of death and destruction. Vents along the side blowing steam out at rapid speeds so it forms a knife edge. Fuckin LASER BEAMS flying everywhere and hitting anything in sight. Satisfying Sci-Fi noises as it begins to rotate faster and faster, in anticipation for the storm of energy about to be unleashed on Freedom’s Foes. And a backpack that glows brighter and brighter with the gun’s immense heat output as steam bursts from it’s vents, and a calming noise akin to hot metal pressed against a sponge when the work is done and the glowing heat fades away. All this without the need to worry about any of that recoil stuff.

The LAS-99 Laser Minigun shoots an immense volume of light penetrating, incendiary lasers that are identical to those shot from the Sickle. As a laser weapon it would not require any ammunition to function and have zero recoil. That means no recoil issues you have to settle before implementing it. Such a big and heavy weapon would have pretty bad handling however and moving around with it in hand would be slow. The heat system works as an in between of the laser and quasar cannons. It would not have any heatsinks and if you reached maximum heat you would have to wait for it too cool to zero but if you chose to stop firing before maximum heat you don’t have to wait for it to fully cool off before firing again. It would cool off a bit quicker than the laser cannon thanks to its backpack. It would have high spread but this would be of benefit to the user due to its function as the ultimate chaff clearing weapon in the right hands. If you find a good spot to fire upon a horde of enemies anything light or medium doesn’t stand a chance. Each laser hit would set the victim ablaze and the volume of fire is so immense that even enemies that the lasers cannot penetrate but still deal half damage too will be melted by the sheer amount of lasers. We are talking about rpms above 2000. It can plug whole bug breaches on its own. However let’s say a horde of voteless catch you off guard it’s bad handling, heavy wait, and charge up time mean that you might not do as well as you would with something like the Stalwart. And since the spread is so high its effectiveness against single targets is lacking. It also cannot penetrate high level medium or heavy armour. But that’s fine because it’s badass as fuck and in the right hands it would dish out far more pain than its closest buddy the Stalwart ever could. Also in theory it would be great against charger buts if you have a good angle on them.
