What is the optimal dps strat when you can’t do sweep burst combo?(wide)

I’m still learning gunlance but I find when I have an opening to land the upwards sweep burst combo into wyrmstake/s I’m fine. If I’m fighting a monster that’s crazy movement and I have less windows I’m confused on what to prioritise.
