ON, OL, Our Skyy and fandom toxicity

Sorry for another rant about the same issue, I had a lot of thoughs over the past couple of days, but was too busy with work to properly articulate them.

Many people say that Ohm should take a break from playing in BL, but… he already did. After BB he only played in straight dramas for a while (10 Years Ticket, Double Savage, Wednesday Club). Yet the crazies are still here.

I wonder if having ON reunite for Our Skyy gave them new strength? Maybe it was also why GMMTV didn't want to officially end ON: they needed them for one last project. I get that GMMTV might have planned it as a shameless cash grab sweet farewell to the beloved franchise, but obviously that didn’t work. When the pilot for Kidnap dropped just a few months later, the memory - and hope - was still fresh in people’s minds.

Obviously, I’m not trying to justify the abuse actors received, I just wonder what could have been done to avoid it.

Many people also talk about GMMTV not protecting artists, but honestly, what could they do? I guess artists themselves could block the social media accounts spewing certain type of content, but the crazies would just create new ones. GMMTV is not responsible for advertising space in the building and the road in front is public, so anyone can buy as many trucks as they want and stage “a protest”. Banning particularly problematic fans from future events could be done - and maybe it was, it just wasn’t advertised publicly. Although the fact that the fanmeets are held in different countries, probably with different local companies, could make it difficult to enforce (esp with people buying tickets through fanclubs).

Truth is, crazy fans have been around for as long as showbiz and no one has a good answer for what to do about them. Even in the West you can find wackos breaking into celebrities' houses.

Kinda makes me wonder if something in particular happened to push OL to breakup? They had to be talking about it for a while, even to the company, judging by how quickly they were replaced. If any of them had an actual encounter they don't want to talk about, that makes it even worse 😕

I also wonder how much of a factor is cultural difference? Chinese people are infamously arrogant and entitled ( here’s one video talking about it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B4fXH7YYeQg ), while Thais prefer to avoid confrontation ( https://www.youtube.com/shorts/6mvzuhIYxiM ). (I'm European, so I can only share what other people say. If anyone has different experiences, I'm open to being corrected). It’s rare to even see actors speaking up against rude viewers, let alone companies.

On a related note, while I know Nanon is unlikely to play in BL in the next ten lives, I especially can’t imagine him as Raffy. Trying to put "Nanon" and "slutty" in one frame freezes my brain 🤣🤣🤣

As for Ohm... I think the only hope for him is to leave GMMTV. Maybe he could get a recommendation for one of the sister companies. Not because of the opportunities, but just to drive home that ON is not happening. Like, ever.
