Applying to Nashville and Hendersonville Fire Depts in Tennessee

Hey everyone, I’m curious about the pay/benefits you get working for NFD/HFD. I recently applied to both. What’s the academy like? How is probation? And what’s the pay/benefits like? I’m a single person who supports herself, and I’m moving to TN from out of state. Is the medical coverage good? Are there opportunities for OT? Will these departments send you to department sponsored training (such as paramedic school)? Pension? Would I be able to afford living on my own- either renting a house or apartment?
