What to look for in an electronics technician program?

I've been thinking about becoming an electronics tech for many years. I recently finished a degree in history but I'm really not enjoying the shitty customer service or professional type jobs I am qualified for. I really want a hands on job where I have a skill to solve problems. Always had a passing interest in electronics and I used to fumble around with guitar pedals and stuff like that. Never could figure out the science on my own but got alright at soldering.

What should I look for in an associates degree in electronics? My local community college has several options some are straight up electronics and some that lean towards computing/PLC or mechatronics.

How do I know if it's a decent program? What a good route?

I'm in Michigan if that helps or you know of any good programs in Southeast Michigan.

Thank you
