Raiders suck
With the revelation that Ben Johnson is the new HC for the Bears, and the Raiders are still without a future coach or QB, I'd like to reminisce.
Do you guys remember around the draft when the Raiders' only QB choices were Bo Nix, Michael Penix Jr, or to trade up for someone else? And then the Falcons took Penix, we took Bo, and then Raiders fans insisted they never wanted Bo anyway and that they already had a QB in Gardner Minshew? Do you remember when they were insulting Sean Payton because they were so confident in Antonio Pierce, who was busy gambling his life savings of millions of dollars away?
Do you guys also remember how they bragged about still getting 2nd in the division over us in 2023, and said we were only gonna get worse after cutting Wilson? And how they continuously held "last time you went to the playoffs?" over our heads because they just so happened to make it with a QB they disrespected like crazy 3 years ago? And then they ended up going 4-13 and couldn't even lose properly, finishing with the 6th overall pick so they could miss any chance of getting a true 1st round QB, while we fought tooth and nail for a spot in the playoffs with the third youngest team in the NFL? And now they've still only been to the playoffs TWICE since they lost the Super Bowl in the 2002 season?
And now, just to top it all off, after all the "Tom Brady convinced Ben Johnson to consider coaching the Raiders" rumors, he still didn't choose them, and they'll probably pretend they didn't want him in the first place like they did with Bo, and shout "RAIDERNATION" like morons?
Yeah, me too. Feels good, man.
And it all started with us and Atlanta robbing them of their choices. (Which, even knowing the way the Kirko Chainz experiment panned out, is still just absolutely hilarious that the teams with a 4-year $180M QB contract and a $80M dead cap figure took their only QB options.)
But hey! At least they got a generational Tight End they'll probably ruin! That is, if he doesn't leave the team for somewhere actually competitive the absolute minute his rookie contract is up.
What ACTUALLY do the Raiders have left to hang over us anymore? They've gotten REAL quiet all of a sudden. "Last Super Bowl?" Nope, ours was more recent. "Last playoff appearance?" Nope, ours was more recent. "Last time you had a positive record?" Nope, ours was more recent. "Last time you had a competent QB?" Nope, ours was more recent. "Last time you had a win against us?" Nope, ours was more recent. "Last time you had a real Head Coach?" Nope, ours was more recent. Hmm, damn shame. Maybe I shouldn't be so cocky, but damn it just feels right to acknowledge all their nonsense considering how loud they were this offseason.
