The Knight predictions (Finale???): The Truth

After all is said and done, this is probably my actual prediction. That we have yet to meet the Knight. Which, I feel kinda conflicted on.

On one hand, yeah, I can see the idea that it'd be narratively unsatisfying if the Knight was just someone new rather than someone well established and foreshadowed beyond simply being mentioned by others. I can see why that'd be less satisfying that Papyrus, or Asriel, or Kris, etc.

But on the other hand, Deltarune is a game. A full game that will one day be a single, complete, whole package. Deltarune is meant to be a whole complete game, not a several year long ARG. So while yes, "it was someone new" would be unsatisfying from a mystery perspective, I feel like what matters more is how satisfying it'll be in context of the game.

That's the ultimate takeaway from this little art project of mine, I think. It's to keep our expectations grounded, keep an open mind, and not get too carried away with theorising about a game that we've only seen 2/7ths of. While the knee jerk reaction to "it was someone new" might be "well that's lame", think of Lancer. Think of Susie. Think of Queen. Think of Noelle. Think of Rouxls. Think of Jevil. Think of EVERY BUDDYS [NUMBER 1 RATED SALESMAN 1997] SPA- SPAMTON G SPAMTON! Toby can write phenomenal new characters that don't suffer whatsoever from not being tied to something from before. The Knight's reveal probably won't be made any less satisfying just because it wasn't foreshadowed in some optional dialogue by Warm Fireperson or whoever.

There are a lot of good candidates for who The Knight is. I've drawn what I think are some of the more plausible ones. But even if it's none of them, even if it's not who you wanted or who you were hoping for, keep an open mind. Have faith in Toby. That is all.

Also feel free to erase the text at the top and use this as a meme template, go nuts.
