characters that should come back for the reboot

so I was listening to the Degrassi Kid podcast and one of the writers from the scrapped reboot came on the show and talked about some of their plans/ideas for the show. when asked if had they planned for any characters to reprise their roles, he did confirm that Simpson was planned to come back, heavily implied that they were writing Eclare into the script and one or two other characters. Simpson seemed like a given, but I was honestly shocked to hear Eclare. I always figured that they would have TNG characters come back mainly since that is the most popular and currently nostalgic era of the show.

anyways here are the characters I think would make the most sense to come back:

Simpson - he’s literally a Degrassi staple atp, it wouldn’t even feel like Degrassi without him. I see him still being principal.

Emma & Spinner - I know everybody hates them lmao but they’re literally the only cannon married couple from TNG. as individual characters, they are two of the most iconic in the show’s history and I think the actors would actually be down to come back. the timeline also allows more than enough time since their marriage for them to have kids old enough to attend Degrassi. if they wanted to please fans, they could just have them divorced and co-parenting lmao. also spinner should totally own the dot and be kind of like an older brother/uncle figure for the kids who work/hang out there.

Marco - should definitely be a teacher at the school. he was already confirmed to have an interest in teaching at Degrassi in season 9. also, adamo has returned for multiple Degrassi projects long after his run and seems to have a genuine love for the show (he’s one of the few actors who kept up with it consistently after he left), so I think he’d love to come back.

Jenna - I haven’t seen anybody mention this but Doug/Tyson is practically a teenager now (Jenna gave birth in 2010/2011), so in only a few years, he would be old enough to go to Degrassi. Jenna could come back to Degrassi to teach music (we all know she didn’t turn out an international pop star lmao) and Doug could be her student. It would be interesting to explore the dynamics of adoption and a bio child/parent relationship in this way.

Lastly, Drew - Drew just screams gym teacher/coach vibes to be lmao so I could totally see him coming back in that capacity
