Unable to friend irl friend

I got my irl friend into CRK and now I'm trying to friend them but I can't. We're both on dark cacao, and when I search her player ID it comes up with her town, but when I click "add" it does nothing instead of saying "sent request" like normal. Has anyone dealt with this ? It could be because she's new to the game and it hasn't introduced her to the friends list yet ? Idk.
