Bilirubin levels increasing
My dad (41) got diagnosed with cirrhosis a few weeks ago and just had got 3.5 liters of ascites drained, he’s currently in the hospital right now I guess they’re keeping him to run more test and to get a colonoscopy but for some reasons his bilirubin levels are increasing even though he hasn’t had a drink in 4 days, he’s went from 7 to 11 to 14 and he’s also had a lot of weight loss overtime, he’s went from 168 to 150 pounds within the course of 3 months.
I was wondering if anyone could give me some insight, he hasn’t thrown up blood or pooped it but he said his pee was red and the doctors told him that it was because his bilirubin levels are so high and that he didn’t have blood in his urine which didn’t make sense to me, for some reason it seems like he struggles a little to drink water sometimes, it might be because he’s weak right now but I’m not sure.
