Why is my cat pooping outside the litterbox when I am awake in the morning?

I bought a new litterbox 2 days ago, my cat on the first day pooped on my bed when I woke up in the morning. I took his poo and placed it in the new litter box. Afterwards he started pooing and peeing in it so I thought that the issue was solved. However, this morning when I woke up, he started scratching my bed and poo again. I also make sure to wash my bed sheet and put baking soda yesterday when he did it the first time round . I am wondering if he needs more time to get used to the new litterbox earlier but i checked my CCTV notification from what I’m seeing after I left for work, he started using the litterbox again. I am not sure what is he telling me? I wish I could communicate with cats :/ I don’t understand why specifically after I wake up in the morning when he could have pooped on me while I was sleeping :p
