Starter Replacement Help
I recently purchased a 1994 325is coupe that was not running. After some diagnosing i found the starter solenoid was bad. I figured I should go ahead and replace the whole starter while I’m down there.
I’ve watched quite a few videos and read a handful of posts on bimmerforums. I’ve got the intake (and what feels like everything else on the top of the motor) removed and I have access to the starter now. I tried removing the nuts in the picture but I wasn’t able to get them to move. Do I need to loosen the starter bolts from the side closest to the firewall or can I remove the nuts in the picture and get it out? There are a handful of hoses and wire looms running over top of the starter. Do I need to remove these to get the starter out or can I leave them in place? This is the biggest project on this car so far and from what I’ve read it’s one of the more unpleasant things to replace. Any tips or advice for completing this job is greatly appreciated.
