Oiled nubuck care problems!

I recently bought a pair of Timberland Stormbuck shoes, and fear I have already ruined them!

I got an oil stain on them, so scrubbed them with soap and them applied saphir renovateur cream, and now the shoes have a very different texture and feel.

Do you lot have any idea how best to care for these shoes? I believe they are oiled nubuck, and fear they may be ruined, so any suggestions would be very helpful.
