Anime with female leads

So I love watching anime but I’m really getting tired of the weak female characters with the characters being high school teenagers. Are there any that have strong female characters. I have watched kill la kill and I enjoyed fairytale because of Erza. But can’t seem to find many that have female leads that aren’t being used and need help every freaking episode. Please any suggestions (edit to say I am watching ergo proxy at the moment and Joran the princess
