AITA For commissioning furry art

Hi! First time being on Reddit but I wanted the opinion of people who were more well versed in the subject than I am so here goes:

I (20) am actually rather new to the furry community. It all started recently when I came across a group of furries on discord and got a bit jealous because they all had cool OCs they had fun art of to use as emotes. I expressed that desire to my Gf (21) who is a great artist while I am not, and she told me that she would like to sit down with me and think of a design. After a while looking for a design idea, I decided that I would like to also have a furry oc. She looked hesitant but she agreed anyway and got to work. I left to give her space but I could hear occasional “fuck’s sake.” And “why did it have to be anthro.” After 2 days, I was presented with a beautiful profile picture of the character we created together. My gf told me that she was struggling with the body and gave up but I was still overjoyed.

Here comes the part where I might be the asshole. Since I felt like she was struggling a bit, I reached out to an artist I like who’s commissions were open and we worked together on a reference sheet. After a week, I had a beautiful full body drawing of the character my gf and I created together and I rushed to show her. She looked visibly disappointed so I asked her what was wrong and she told me that “she was excited to be my exclusive go to person for art” and that I “disrespected her integrity as an artist.”

Thing is we did talk about it, but I wanted to help her since I thought the problem was a lack of references when It was in fact just inexperience drawing anthro. How do I make this situation better? Was I an asshole by trying to help.

Tl:dr: my gf got excited to be the only person to draw my new fursona for me but I commissioned someone else to draw it to help because I thought she was struggling
