Bought an 06 RSX but the Front Suspension is Blown, Shocks are Discontinued Need Some Help/Advice
Just picked up a really clean 06 RSX base, but the front suspension makes a tone of noise. Planning on replacing everything but KYB doesn't appear to make shocks for the 06 style springs and the 02-04 front shocks are discontinued (02-04 rears are still available though, will those work for 06 rear springs?). I don't want to lower the car as it's a daily driver. Wanted to see if anyone else ran into this issue and get some ideas on what to do. Based on my own research I came up with the following:
EP3 front shocks are still available from KYB, I could get a set of those and some Si springs and run them with the stock RSX stuff in the rear. This would require me to switch the tie rod ends to the Civic ones. The EP3 springs are also softer so it's not ideal. Do the 02-04 RSX front springs fit on the EP3 front shocks? If so that would at least allow me to use the stiffer RSX springs in the front to match the rear somewhat, assuming the rear 05-06 base RSX stuff has similar rates to 02-04. The 02-04 base and Type S have the same springs, but I wasn't able to confirm if that was also the case for 05-06. Mines a base so I might want to get Type S stuff if I'm going through the trouble to change it.
I found a set of EP3 Type R suspension at a JDM importer near me. Stiffer than the Si stuff we got and I could potentially match the front and rear. Do the EP3 rear springs fit on RSX rear struts? If not I can run washers on the rear EP3 struts as the bottom mount is slightly narrower and it otherwise would fit fine.
Tein makes shocks for the 05-06 RSX, "EnduraPro Plus Adjustable Shocks". I don't have any experience with their shocks and haven't been able to find anyone who has used them on an RSX. I also could only find them for sale on one website that I've never heard of here. Is this a good option? For adjustable shocks they're much less expensive than Koni.
