Is it safe to just offload my "rare" stuff?

Maybe I'm looking in the wrong places online but haven't been able to find a good answer.

My inventory is getting pretty full because it's jammed full of rare stuff like oarfish, big frog, big dab/flounder etc.

Is there any reason to hold onto these things or is it safe to sell them/gulliver them?
