Panasonic UB154 and skipping

Hi All, I bought a UB154 recently. (Didn’t need streaming or upscaling functions - just needed a reliable 4K uhd disc player). For the most part, it’s been great - had a few issues reading discs initially - would keep spitting it out and would take 4-5 takes before it would finally take it but that issue went away. Yesterday, I was playing American sniper and it got stuck at the 53 min mark. Pixelated and would move frame to frame. Disc is clean but had a similar issue with ready player one the other day which went away on restart. I have till end of this month to return this. Do you think this is a player issue or something disc related? How would you proceed if you were in my shoes?
